The Esoteric Symbolism of Passover: Blood, Duality, and the Third Eye Awakening

This is the verse I'm referencing to give you more understanding of what passover ( easter ) is and how it came to be, and to reconsider the concept of blood rituals that people may actually still participate in, in modern day religion and worship.

Exodus 12:7 (KJV) "And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it." "For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord." The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible recounts a powerful moment in Exodus: the night of the Passover, when the Israelites were instructed to mark their doorposts with the blood of a lamb so the angel of death would "pass over" their homes. On the surface, this act seems like a simple protective ritual—a sign to spare the faithful. But beneath the literal lies a profound symbolic message about awakening to our consciousness, spiritual balance between the masculine and feminine nature, and divine union within ourselves as individuals.

Blood on the Doorposts: Not Just a Sign, But a Symbol

The instruction was to place blood of a lamb on two side posts and the lintel (the top beam). This triadic marking forms more than just a physical barrier; it is a metaphysical sigil. Esoterically, the blood represents not just life, but spirit—the divine essence that animates all beings. In many traditions, blood is sacred, a symbol of the soul-force. Here, it is not simply animal blood—it is a representation of conscious awakening, of covering the spiritual gateways (the 2 posts and the lintel which i'll describe in the next paragraph ) with awareness. The reason why lamb blood is used is because the lamb is the ram in the zodiac. The ram, is the first sign in the zodiac, known as Aries, and holds the archetype of " I AM" when you look at blood as a symbol for the spirit, and the blood is that of a lamb or ram, you can symbolically associate the blood of the lamb is linked to the concept of " I AM SPIRIT " which, is because aries represents i am, and the blood repsents spirit.

When Moses asked God who are you, he said " I AM, that I AM " meaning, you are what you are claiming to be. " I AM...WEALTHY" or " I AM...POOR".

God is no respecter of persons, and will allow you to manifest the reality you choose to claim because you have free will. It your choice to claim whatever it is you'd like, however in the story of passover, to avoid the angel of death, the Israelites must claim " I AM SPIRIT" which is indirectly saying " I AM CONSCIOUS" or " I UNDERSTAND I AM DIVINE, MIND, BODY & SOUL, THE TRINITY "

The Two Posts: Masculine and Feminine Principles

In Masonic symbolism, the two pillars—Jachin and Boaz—represent the masculine and feminine principles, the duality at the heart of all creation ( refer the hermetic law of genders, everything in reality has a masculine and feminine principle ). These two energies are not in conflict but in complementary harmony. To apply the “blood” (or spirit) to these posts is to spiritually activate or sanctify both forces within oneself. It is a recognition that both the active (masculine) and the receptive (feminine) aspects must be honored and brought into balance.

This is echoed in many mystical traditions—yin and yang, ida and pingala, sun and moon. True spiritual maturity comes when these forces are no longer battling within us, but are harmonized and made sacred.

The Lintel Above: The Third Eye

The top beam, or lintel, represents something higher—the third eye, the pineal gland, the seat of inner vision and divine connection. When the blood is placed here, it symbolizes the activation of higher consciousness, the opening of the mind’s eye to spiritual truth. The third eye is where duality is transcended, where inner sight reveals the unity beneath apparent opposites.

The third eye is the piece that connects the two pillars. Just as in sacred architecture and esoteric diagrams, the triangle or eye above the two columns represents illumination—divine insight and awakened awareness.

The Angel of Death Passes Over the Awakened

Why does the angel of death pass over such a house? Because death, in esoteric terms, is symbolic of unconsciousness, of being spiritually asleep. The house with blood on the two posts and the top is the house of one who is awake, who recognizes their divine nature and their union with the cosmos. To such a soul, death has no dominion—not because they escape physical death, but because they have already transcended spiritual death.

They are aligned in body (two posts), soul (the blood), and spirit (third eye), and thus are no longer subject to the bondage of ignorance, fear, or separation. They have become a living temple.

Conclusion: The Inner Passover

The Passover story is not just about ancient history or external deliverance—it is about the inner exodus, the liberation of the soul from bondage through spiritual awakening. When we align our inner masculine and feminine energies and awaken our higher sight, we become the marked doorway. The angel of death, symbolic of lower consciousness or karmic consequence, passes over, for we have entered the realm of the living—the truly awake.

So next time you read about the blood on the doorposts, consider not just the historical ritual or tradition, question where it came from. If the ritual itself doesn't actually do anything for you, and you don't feel more protected or there isn't a change in your reality, consider questioning why. If there isn't a change, chances are it's because we've been misled to believe ( in this instance ) blood rituals will transform us and keep us safe by participating in the physical act, but in reality the true intention of this ritual was to preform it within ourselves and symbolically apply this concept to our internal spiritual nature.
